Review [quantumexpedition] at the BMFTR Open House 2025

What happens when quantum physicists and life scientists collaborate across disciplines? What particular added value does quantum technology offer society? Using the example of quantum microscopy of living cells, these and other questions were answered at the exhibit of the [quantumexpedition] research project at the open house of the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space (BMFTR) on August 23 and 24, 2025.

In a virtual and interactive tour of the laboratories at the Osnabrück Research Facility for Cellular Nanoanalytics (CellNanOs), molecules could be explored and fascinating quantum effects experienced first-hand following the successful synthesis of nanodiamonds and the preparation of individual cells. Federal Minister Dorothee Bär also took the opportunity to see a personal demonstration of the interdisciplinary research project and learn about the innovative approaches to science communication. With the research project [quantumexpedition] (funding measure Quantum Aktiv 2), funded by the Federal Ministry of Research, Technology, and Space, the members of the research group demonstrate Imlau Labs impressively how important interdisciplinary research is in modern science and how new technologies can bring current research to life and inspire enthusiasm for the natural sciences in young and old alike.
