Quantenwelt zum Anfassen

We strive to pass on knowledge and make it clear to the public that getting started in quantum physics does not have to be complicated. But sometimes you need the right multipliers to spread the message. This is exactly where the two-day event "Quantenwelt zum Anfassen" (Hands-on Quantum World) came in. Various projects, institutes and associations presented their work at the Heinz Nixdorf Museumsforum in Paderborn. The idea was not only to bombard visitors with lectures and traditional exhibition stands, but to allow them to experience the quantum world firsthand.
The first day started off in a relaxed manner with an introduction and presentation of the individual exhibitors. This was followed by an explanation of the roundtable concept. The projects, including many from the quantum aktiv funding line, brought along a game, a challenge or their exhibit, and participants were able to try everything in small groups over several rounds. At our Quantum Minilabs table, we were able to gather valuable feedback on the experiment kit and make new contacts. After all, who better to tell us whether our experiment will be accepted by students than the teachers who will eventually have to work with the product?
In the evening there was an interesting lecture by Robert Löw and a dinner for all participants.
On the second day, contacts were strengthened and potential collaborations on projects or multipliers were discussed. The goal of the event was not only to bring people together on a single occasion, but also to gain new long-term collaborations in order to launch new projects or, for example, to obtain feedback on the product in the future.
Quantum Minilabs was represented on site by University of Applied Sciences Ruhr West and Münster University of Applied Sciences. Our partner OpenUC2 also used the event to showcase and present its projects.
We are delighted that the “Hands-on Quantum World” event was so well received by all participants. We spent many months planning the event with the quantum aktiv project “HedwiQ” and are thrilled that the alternative approach of roundtable discussions received such positive feedback.
